This article is part of our CortiSync: The Complete Guide.
Short answer: the manufacturer states that CortiSync kicks in around the 2-week mark and recommends starting with at least a 3-month supply, but its page gives no maximum duration and no cycling advice. The ashwagandha trials we opened ran 6 to 8 weeks, and NIH sources only describe safety up to about 3 months. So how long to take CortiSync is best treated as a planned 8 to 12 week trial with a review, not an open-ended habit. Check the current terms on the official CortiSync page before you order.

Most supplement pages tell you what to take and when to buy more, and very few tell you when to stop. That gap is exactly why how long to take CortiSync is such a common question. We read the official product page on November 7, 2026, re-read the Supplement Facts label, opened twelve official health pages and three trial abstracts, and kept only what they actually say.
If you are new to the formula, start with our complete CortiSync guide, which maps every article we have on it. This page answers one narrow question, how long to take CortiSync: for how many weeks should an adult who is considering CortiSync plan to take it, and what should happen at the end of that period?

How long to take CortiSync: what the manufacturer states
On the official page we read on November 7, 2026, the manufacturer states four things that bear on duration. First, you take 2 capsules daily with a meal. Second, the formula should start to kick in around the 2-week mark, and patience and consistent use are described as the keys. Third, it recommends starting with at least a 3-month supply. Fourth, each bottle holds a one-month supply, so a 3-month start means three bottles.
Just as important is what the page does not say. In the text we read, there is no maximum duration, no cycling or break schedule, and no warning section for pregnancy, medicines or liver problems. The page instead says that no side effects have been reported. We treat that as a marketing statement rather than a safety finding, because the NIH pages we opened list side effects for ashwagandha, which is the largest ingredient on the label. Our CortiSync safety questions article goes through those cautions in detail.
| Duration question | What the CortiSync page states (read Nov 7, 2026) | What the NIH sources add |
|---|---|---|
| When might it start to work? | Around the 2-week mark | Stress trials of ashwagandha lasted 6 to 8 weeks |
| Minimum suggested time | At least a 3-month supply | Safety described up to about 3 months |
| Maximum time | Not stated | Longer-term safety not known or not clear |
| Breaks or cycling | Not stated | No cycling schedule given |
| Return window | 67 days | Not applicable |
The 2-week mark: what to track while you wait
On how long to take CortiSync, the 2-week claim is the manufacturer’s own, and no study we opened tested CortiSync as a finished product. What we can say is that the individual ingredients were tested over longer periods, which means the first two weeks are better used for tolerance checks than for judging results. When you decide how long to take CortiSync, treat week 2 as the first checkpoint, not the finish line.
A simple tracking habit makes the later review of how long to take CortiSync much easier. Before your first capsule, write down your usual stress level, sleep quality and afternoon energy on a 1 to 10 scale. The NIMH stress fact sheet notes that working out your triggers and which coping techniques help can take trial and error, and it suggests keeping a journal. NCCIH adds that if your stress symptoms will not go away or you are struggling to cope, it may be time to talk to a professional. If that sounds like you, a supplement should not be the only plan, and our honest look at whether cortisol supplements work explains what they can and cannot do.
During the first two weeks, also watch for the common ashwagandha side effects named by NIH ODS: upset stomach, loose stools, nausea and drowsiness. Those are good reasons to pause and call a clinician early rather than push on to the 3-month mark. If you take CortiSync with coffee or other stimulants, read our CortiSync with coffee article first, because rhodiola can cause insomnia in some people.
What research says about how long to take CortiSync ingredients
The largest ingredient by label weight is Sensoril ashwagandha, so most of the evidence on how long to take CortiSync comes from ashwagandha studies. The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements health professional fact sheet (updated May 2, 2025) describes a 2021 review of seven studies with 491 adults, in which stress and anxiety were assessed after 6 to 8 weeks of use. The ODS consumer page (updated December 4, 2023) says the same 6 to 8 week window, and notes that no safety concerns were seen in studies lasting up to about 3 months.
The individual trials follow that pattern. A 60-day, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial (Chandrasekhar 2012, PMID 23439798) enrolled 64 adults with a history of chronic stress and gave capsules of 300 mg of a full-spectrum ashwagandha root extract twice daily. An 8-week, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial (Salve 2019, PMID 32021735) gave adults with elevated perceived stress scores 125 mg or 300 mg of an ashwagandha root extract twice daily, and measured serum cortisol at baseline and at 8 weeks. A separate 8-week randomized trial (Lopresti 2022, PMID 36185698) tested a holy basil extract in adults experiencing stress. Every duration in these abstracts is 8 weeks or shorter.
| Source | Length studied | What it tested |
|---|---|---|
| ODS review summary (2021 review, 7 studies, 491 adults) | 6 to 8 weeks | Ashwagandha for stress and anxiety |
| Chandrasekhar 2012 (PMID 23439798) | 60 days | 300 mg full-spectrum ashwagandha root extract twice daily vs placebo, 64 adults |
| Salve 2019 (PMID 32021735) | 8 weeks | 125 mg or 300 mg ashwagandha root extract twice daily vs placebo |
| Lopresti 2022 (PMID 36185698) | 8 weeks | Holy basil extract vs placebo in adults experiencing stress |
| NCCIH rhodiola page (April 2025) | Up to 12 weeks | Described as possibly safe for up to 12 weeks, with not enough reliable evidence for any health purpose |
So the honest answer to how long to take CortiSync from the research is this: the evidence supports a trial of about 8 weeks, and the safety statements stretch to about 3 months. Neither says that months or years of daily use are fine, and neither says they are harmful. They simply stop. For the full ingredient-by-ingredient picture, see our CortiSync ingredients research and Sensoril ashwagandha and cortisol pages.
Label doses next to trial doses
On the Supplement Facts image of the official page, read on November 7, 2026, the serving size is 2 capsules with 30 servings per container. The label lists Sensoril ashwagandha root extract 300 mg, lemon balm herb powder 150 mg, lichi fruit extract 120 mg, L-theanine 100 mg, holy basil leaf extract 100 mg (standardized to 2% ursolic acid), magnolia bark extract 100 mg and rhodiola root extract 50 mg (standardized to 3% rosavins and 1% salidroside). Those are daily totals for the 2 capsules.
| Item | Daily amount | Note |
|---|---|---|
| CortiSync label, Sensoril ashwagandha | 300 mg | 2 capsules daily |
| Chandrasekhar 2012 trial | 600 mg (300 mg twice daily) | Different full-spectrum extract |
| Salve 2019 trial | 250 mg or 600 mg (125 or 300 mg twice daily) | Different root extract |
This comparison is not an equivalence claim. Different extracts have different strengths, and a trial of one extract at one dose says nothing certain about another product. What it does show is that the label’s ashwagandha amount is in the same general range as the trial doses, which is one more reason to judge CortiSync by your own tracked results over about 8 weeks rather than by the 2-week promise.
How long to take CortiSync safely: the 3-month evidence line
Safety is where how long to take CortiSync gets serious. NCCIH (last updated March 2023) says ashwagandha may be safe in the short term, up to 3 months, and that there is not enough information on long-term safety. The ODS health professional page says it was well tolerated for up to about 3 months and that evidence over many months or years is lacking. The consumer page says it is not clear whether longer use is safe. Three independent NIH pages, one message.
The liver is the specific concern. The ODS health professional page describes a few case reports of liver injury, in people taking 450 to 1,350 mg a day for periods from about one week to four months, with jaundice, itching, nausea and lethargy. LiverTox (last updated December 3, 2024) says injury typically appears 2 to 12 weeks after starting, usually with jaundice and itching, and that it usually subsides within 1 to 4 months after stopping. It also advises against re-trying the same product after an injury, and says people with cirrhosis or advanced chronic liver disease should avoid ashwagandha.
That timing matters for your plan. The risk window described by LiverTox is the first 2 to 12 weeks, which is almost exactly the period most people are in when they decide how long to take CortiSync. It does not mean liver injury is likely. NCCIH calls these cases rare. It does mean that the first 3 months are when you should know the warning signs and have a clinician who knows you are taking it. Our is CortiSync safe page covers the wider safety picture.
Breaks and cycling: what no source says
People often ask whether to cycle CortiSync, for example 8 weeks on and 2 weeks off. We could not find any source that supports a specific schedule. The CortiSync page does not mention cycling. The ODS, NCCIH and LiverTox pages we opened do not recommend one either. Any cycling plan you read elsewhere is an opinion, not a finding from these sources.
That leaves you with a practical rule for how long to take CortiSync: if you want to continue beyond the 3-month window that the NIH pages describe, make that a deliberate decision with a clinician, not an automatic reorder. A planned pause at the end of a 12-week trial also gives you the cleanest comparison, because you can see how you feel without it. Only your own clinician can tell you whether a pause suits you, especially if you take other medicines.
A 3-check plan for how long to take CortiSync
This is our own simple framework for how long to take CortiSync, built from the sources above. It is not medical advice and it is not from the manufacturer.
How long to take CortiSync, check 1: week 2 tolerance
Ask only whether you tolerate it. Note stomach upset, loose stools, nausea, drowsiness or trouble sleeping. If you notice side effects, NCCIH advises stopping the supplement and contacting your health care provider. Do not judge results yet.
How long to take CortiSync, check 2: week 8 results
Compare your 1 to 10 notes with your starting week. Eight weeks matches the length of the Salve 2019 and Lopresti 2022 trials, so this is the earliest point where a fair comparison is possible. If nothing has changed, that is useful information, and the 67-day return window stated on the official page is close to this point.
How long to take CortiSync, check 3: week 12 decision
This is the review of how long to take CortiSync before any reorder. Bring your notes, the bottle and the Supplement Facts label to your clinician. Ask whether to continue, pause or stop, and whether anything about your health or medicines changes the answer. The ODS suggests keeping a dated record of every supplement and medicine you take and sharing it with your providers.
Our verdict on how long to take CortiSync
If you decide to try it, plan for about 12 weeks (our answer to how long to take CortiSync) with the three checks above, then make a deliberate choice. That fits the manufacturer’s advice of at least 3 months, the 6 to 8 week trial length, and the roughly 3-month limit of the NIH safety statements. It does not fit an indefinite subscription with no review. If you want the manufacturer’s current offers and guarantee wording, read them directly on the official CortiSync page.

Who should talk to a clinician before choosing how long to take CortiSync
When choosing how long to take CortiSync, note that the NIH and NCCIH pages list groups who need extra care with ashwagandha. They include pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with thyroid or autoimmune conditions, men with hormone-sensitive prostate cancer, people with cirrhosis or advanced liver disease, and anyone about to have surgery. Interactions are listed with thyroid, diabetes, blood pressure, sedative, anticonvulsant and immune-suppressing medicines. Rhodiola, another ingredient on the label, has a reported interaction with losartan, according to NCCIH. Our who should not take CortiSync page expands on each group.
The ODS consumer fact sheet on dietary supplements advises telling every provider, including your pharmacist, about all supplements, and getting approval before using them alongside prescribed medicines. FDA oversight of supplements happens after products reach the market, and the NCCIH page on using supplements wisely warns that label contents may differ from what is in the bottle and that words like standardized or verified do not guarantee quality. USP runs a voluntary verification program for finished supplements, so it is reasonable to ask any maker about independent testing. Our guide to choosing a cortisol supplement lists the label checks we use.
How the 67-day guarantee fits a 3-month supply
This detail about how long to take CortiSync is easy to miss. The manufacturer recommends at least a 3-month supply, which at 2 capsules a day is about 90 days, yet it states a 67-day window to return bottles for a full refund. That means a person who follows the recommended 3 months will pass the end of the return window before finishing the third bottle. The manufacturer also states that its 6-month pack works out to less than $54 a month, a price read on the same page on November 7, 2026. A bigger pack is cheaper per month but locks in more bottles than the 67-day window covers.
The sensible reading for how long to take CortiSync is to decide your week-8 result inside the return window, before you commit to the full 3 months, and to read the full terms on the official page. We are an affiliate, so we want you to choose with the facts, not with pressure. A short tracking habit protects you either way. For dosing questions, our CortiSync dosage guide covers timing with meals.
How CortiSync compares with plain ashwagandha on duration
If you are weighing a single-herb product against the seven-ingredient formula, the duration evidence is identical, because the ashwagandha evidence is what both rely on. Our CortiSync vs ashwagandha comparison explains what the trials did and did not test. Whichever you choose, how long to take CortiSync or any ashwagandha product is limited by the same NIH statement: about 3 months is where the reassuring data end. For the bigger picture on cortisol, see our cortisol guide.
Frequently asked questions about how long to take CortiSync
How long should you take CortiSync?
The manufacturer states that CortiSync may start to kick in around the 2-week mark and recommends starting with at least a 3-month supply, but it gives no maximum duration. NIH sources describe ashwagandha safety only up to about 3 months, so a planned review at 8 to 12 weeks with a clinician is a sensible way to decide how long to take CortiSync.
How long does CortiSync take to work?
The official page says the formula kicks in around the 2-week mark and that consistent daily use matters. Published ashwagandha trials measured stress over 6 to 8 weeks, so judging results before about 8 weeks may be too early when you decide how long to take CortiSync.
Do you need to cycle or take breaks from CortiSync?
The official page we read on November 7, 2026 gives no cycling or break guidance, and none of the NIH, NCCIH or LiverTox pages we opened recommends a cycling schedule for ashwagandha. A break is a question for your clinician, especially if you plan to stay on it past 3 months.
Is it safe to take CortiSync for more than 3 months?
Nobody can say from the sources we opened. NIH ODS and NCCIH both describe safety only up to about 3 months and say long-term safety is not known or not clear. If you plan to continue past that point, review it with a clinician first.
Can you take CortiSync every day?
The manufacturer states to take 2 capsules daily with a meal. Daily use is the labeled routine, but the long-term safety of daily ashwagandha beyond about 3 months is not established in the NIH sources.
What if you feel nothing after 2 weeks?
The 2-week mark is the manufacturer’s claim, not a guarantee. Trials used 6 to 8 weeks, so keep a short daily note for a few more weeks, then decide with your clinician whether to continue. The 67-day return window stated on the official page is the manufacturer’s own safety net.
What are the signs you should stop CortiSync?
NCCIH advises stopping a supplement and contacting your health care provider if you have side effects. For ashwagandha, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes) and itching are the liver warning signs listed in LiverTox and the NIH health professional fact sheet, and stomach upset, loose stools, nausea and drowsiness are the common side effects.
Can you take CortiSync with other medicines?
NIH and NCCIH list possible interactions for ashwagandha with thyroid, diabetes, blood pressure, sedative and immune-suppressing medicines. Tell your clinician and pharmacist about every supplement before you start, and again before you extend.
Does the 67-day guarantee cover a 3-month supply?
The manufacturer states there are 67 days to return the bottles for a full refund. A 3-month supply lasts about 90 days at 2 capsules a day, so the return window ends before the last bottle is finished. Read the current guarantee terms on the official page before you order.
How should you review whether CortiSync is working?
Write down your stress, sleep and energy on a simple scale for a week before starting, then repeat at weeks 2, 8 and 12. A journal is also what the NIMH stress fact sheet suggests for learning your triggers and which coping techniques work for you.
