Supplements to reduce cortisol are a crowded category, and most pages about them promise more than the evidence allows. This guide keeps to what we could open and read: one human trial on ashwagandha, the label of CortiSync, and its price and guarantee as shown on the official page.

What the research says about supplements to reduce cortisol
Cortisol is the body’s main stress hormone. It rises and falls through the day, and it is normal for it to spike under pressure. Persistently high levels are a different matter, and they are a reason to talk to a clinician, not to self-diagnose. For background, read our cortisol guide and our walkthrough on how to test cortisol levels.
The best-studied ingredient is ashwagandha. A double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in the Indian Journal of Psychological Medicine enrolled 64 adults with a history of chronic stress. They took 300 mg of a high-concentration root extract twice a day for 60 days. The authors reported a significant drop in stress-scale scores (P<0.0001) and a substantial drop in serum cortisol (P=0.0006) against placebo, with mild side effects similar in both groups.
Keep the limits in view. It was a single-centre trial of 64 people, and it used a different branded extract from the one in CortiSync. Rhodiola, holy basil and other herbs are popular, but we have not opened trials for them for this page, so we make no claims about them here. Our holy basil and cortisol page covers that herb separately.
CortiSync: label, price and guarantee
CortiSync is the product we feature most on this site. The maker’s landing page (read 2026-10-27) lists seven ingredients: Sensoril ashwagandha, holy basil, L-theanine, lemon balm, lichi, magnolia and rhodiola. No milligram doses are published, so we cannot tell you how much of each you get.
As read on the official primegenix.com page on 2026-10-27: 1 bottle $59, 3 bottles $55 each, 6 bottles $49 each, monthly subscription $49, with a 67-day money-back guarantee. Prices change, so confirm at checkout. Our full CortiSync review goes through the details, and CortiSync with coffee answers a common timing question.
Dosing and who should skip it
Follow the label on whatever you buy; do not exceed it. Skip supplements to reduce cortisol, or ask your doctor first, if you:
- are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive;
- take prescription medication, especially for thyroid, blood sugar, blood pressure or sleep;
- have an autoimmune or hormone-sensitive condition;
- are scheduled for surgery.
Stop and seek advice if you notice unusual symptoms. A supplement does not replace sleep, movement and lifestyle changes for cortisol, or food choices such as those in our list of foods that reduce cortisol.
Evidence table
| Source | Type | What it found | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chandrasekhar et al., 2012, Indian J Psychol Med | Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 64 adults | Lower stress scores and serum cortisol vs placebo after 60 days | One centre; a different extract from CortiSync’s |
| Ashwagandha overview, 2011, Afr J Tradit Complement Altern Med | Narrative review | Cortisol findings cited come from animal experiments | Not human evidence |

Frequently asked questions
Which supplements to reduce cortisol have the best research behind them?
Ashwagandha root extract has the most human research of the common options. One double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of 64 adults with chronic stress reported lower serum cortisol and lower stress scores after 60 days. It tested a different branded extract than the one in CortiSync, so it supports the ingredient, not any single product.
How long do supplements to reduce cortisol take to work?
The ashwagandha trial we opened measured results after 60 days of daily use, so plan on weeks rather than days. Individual responses differ, and a supplement is not a substitute for sleep, movement and stress management.
Is CortiSync backed by a money-back guarantee?
As read on the official primegenix.com page on 2026-10-27, CortiSync is covered by a 67-day money-back guarantee. Check the current terms on the official page before you order.
How much does CortiSync cost?
As read on the official primegenix.com page on 2026-10-27: 1 bottle is $59, 3 bottles are $55 each, 6 bottles are $49 each, and a monthly subscription is $49. Prices can change, so confirm at checkout.
Who should skip supplements to reduce cortisol?
Anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding, takes prescription medication, or has a thyroid, autoimmune or hormone-sensitive condition should talk to a doctor first. Ashwagandha in particular can interact with some medicines.
Can a supplement tell me my cortisol level?
No. Only a lab test can measure it. See our guide to how to test cortisol levels, and speak to a clinician if you suspect a medical problem.
